The county authority's international committee has developed a new strategy for internationalisation. The 26 municipalities and various institutions in the county have been invited to comment on the proposed strategy. The deadline for submitting statements is 1 October.
Oppland county authority is already involved in various international relations and projects, but for the first time the county council will process a strategic document presenting a set of ambitions and goals for the county authority's international work. Active participation and exchange of experiences and best practice are keywords.
- Our local policy development is affected by what is happening around us, regardless of county or municipality borders, says Kjetil Lundemoen, chair of the international committee. He emphasizes the importance of being active on the international arena and using international experiences to improve the quality of our own development.
Oppland county authority has cooperation agreements in Sweden and Latvia and is member of several European networks and organisations. The county authority aims at expanding the international network and is looking to establish cooperation with a region in the South.
The municipalities are important cooperation partners for the county authority, also when it comes to international relations. The county authority wants to contribute to developing more international projects in the municipalities, by offering competence, support and access to networks.
