Cooperating regions

Oppland county authority had a cooperation agreement with Valmiera in Latvia from 2001 to 2009. The two regions developed close links within the areas of culture, cultural heritage preservation and upper secondary education. As a consequence of the regional reform in Latvia in 2009, the county level does no longer exist, and the agreement has expired. However, the partnerships that have been established between organisations and institutions will continue to cooperate on projects and exchanges.

Oppland is a member of the Eastern Norway County Network (ENCN). ENCN has a cooperation agreement with Land Schleswig-Holstein in Germany.

Reidun Gravdal and Ferdinand KavetunaOppland signed a cooperation agreement with Otjozondjupa Region in Namibia in 2010. The purpose is to exchange experiences and hopefully also engage in projects within regional development and planning, education, public health and climate. The contact was established through the Namibia Association of Norway (NAMAS), and this organisation will continue to be an important partner in the cooperation. Through NAMAS Oppland county council contributes financially to the san education project in Tsumkwe, a remote village in the Otjozondjupa Region.

The county council is also in the process of establishing contact with regions in Germany and Scotland.
